This printed pattern can then be stitched over, creating a beautifully embroidered piece of art and then dissolved in water. Step-by-Step Guide to Printing Stick and Stitch Embroidery Designs
Now that you have all your materials ready, let’s go through the process of printing stick and stitch embroidery designs:
Prepare Your Design
- Create or select a design that you want to embroider. If you create your design, think about adjusting the color from black to a lighter or darker gray. Grayscale patterns have less ink bleeding when stitching.
- Resize the pattern as needed to fit your embroidery project. You can adjust the size while printing use the scale option.
- Mirror the design if it contains text or any elements that need to face a specific direction on your fabric.
Load Stick and Stitch Paper
- Insert a sheet of stick and stitch paper into your home printer with the adhesive side facing down. Be sure to follow your printer’s instructions for loading specialty paper. For the best printing results on my specific printer, I have found that printing black and white works best. When I had a cheaper inkjet printer I would print on draft mode for the best results.
Print Your Design
- Print your design onto the stick and stitch paper using your printer. Ensure that the design is centered and aligned correctly on the paper.
Cut Out the Design
- Carefully cut around the printed design, leaving a small border of adhesive around the edges of the design.
Peel Off the Backing
- Gently peel off the backing from the adhesive side of your printed design.
